ESCORTED TOURS 2024
Each year we offer a calendar of fixed-departure soft adventure small group tours which are pivoted around the annual culture festivals. Each tour includes multiple village visits and at least one local festival or sing-sing. Although you might normally be an independent traveller, joining a small group of like-minded travellers (usually between 6 and 10 people) escorted by one of our experienced Papua New Guinean tour leaders is a safe, hassle-free way of experiencing exotic rural areas of PNG and allows you to concentrate on enjoying the experience and capturing some of the most stunning cultural photography available anywhere in the world. On our tours, accommodation in rural areas is at local hotels and village guest houses - not tourist lodges full of other tour groups - and all the touring activities, sing-sings and demonstrations of traditional practices (sago making, tattooing, courtship rituals to name a few) take place in real local villages not in tourist centers or fake "cultural villages". We encourage locals to present themselves in full traditional costume ("bilas") for our visits without any Western clothing or gaudy plastic decorations. This facilitates high quality cultural photography. Most of the sign-up escorted tours featured on this page are complete tour programs including internal air travel, accommodation, activities and most meals. For booking enquiries please email ecotourism.melanesia@gmail.com or send us a message.
If joining a group is definitely not your thing, you may wish to select an itinerary from our menu of independent touring packages. Our local guides will look after you at each destination as you proceed through your independent tour. Customised itineraries for travellers with special interests are also available.
